State Plan Variations
Refund Insurance Plans vary depending on your state of residence. You may download and review a sample of your state's specific plan prior to purchase. Once you purchase coverage, you will also be able to view your plan document from your account.

Note: your plan document uses standard insurance terms like 'trip' and 'trip cost.' For this plan, that refers to your race registration fee. Your plan document also includes a full Schedule of Benefits — for questions about how other coverages in that schedule apply, contact Spot directly.

FAQS

What is included in Spot Refund Insurance?

This plan reimburses your non-refundable race registration cost for listed unforeseen covered events that keep you from racing, including but not limited to:

  • You or a family member's death, sickness or injury.
  • Inclement weather that causes a delay, closure of public roadways by local government authorities, or cancellation by a common carrier for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive hours on a common carrier you are scheduled to travel on, which prevents you from reaching your scheduled destination or scheduled trip departure city. This does not include the race itself being cancelled, postponed, or altered by the event organizer due to weather, fire danger, poor air quality, or similar conditions.
  • Your primary place of residence or scheduled destination accommodation is made uninhabitable due to a natural disaster, vandalism, or burglary.
  • Your current employer requires you to transfer 250 miles or more, which requires your primary residence to be relocated.
  • Revocation of your previously granted military leave or re-assignment. Official written notice of the revocation or re-assignment by a supervisor or commanding officer of the appropriate branch of service will be required.
  • You are involuntarily terminated or laid off from your employment. You must have been an active employee with the same employer for at least one (1) continuous year. This provision is not applicable to temporary or seasonal employment, independent contractors, freelancers, or self-employed persons.

*Additional terms and conditions apply to all covered reasons listed above. Covered reasons for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption are similar, but not identical. Please review your plan document for full details and covered reasons.
